in my calculation if Kong Jie play normally the result is jigo, but Lee Sedol took 1 penalty and kong get 2 points so IMO he would won the game. For me Choi Cheolhan opening was very interesting - Choi is in great form.



Semifinal will be also very interesting especially long waited Lee-Lee battle.



If Liu Xing want to win Ing for China he need to play 8 hard game so if he manage to do it, then it will his life masterpiece.

According to my calculation, without the dame-filling-exchange Lee Sedol will still win (by one point), but neverthles Kong Jie´s loss after capturing Lee Sedol´s group on the left is unbeliavable. From another point of view: Sedol´s comeback is huge and worthy of deep study ..

Yes,the end of Kong-Lee was really odd(and funny!)because at the very end(the players wer filling the dame points)lee made an exchange sente to make life for a dead group,and did not answer to an atari on 14 stones.But kong misread(or miscalculate)and took the 14 stones so lee sedol managed to make is dead group alive and finally won.I haven't count in ing rules,but i think when kong would have answer to lee's move,he could have win by 1 point.So,it was really impressive to see lee win at the last move by 11 points!!!

Yes, the last game just ended. In order of completion, they are:

Liu Xing beat Park Yeonghun by resignation.
Choi Cheolhan beat Piao Wenyao by resignation.
Lee Sedol beat Kong Jie by 11 points.
Lee Changho beat Cho Chikun by 3 points.

So, 1 Chinese got in. Very impressive performance by Liu Xing.

I've heard that the Lee Sedol - Kong Jie game should've been a win for Kong, but Kong made a strange exchange in the end and lost the game.

Any news about quarterfinal games?

Its a very embarrassing results for the chinese players. After coming out strongly in round 1 and with the numerical advantage they had, round 2 is a shock. They lost all their top players (Gu li, Xie he, Chang Hao, Hu Yaoyu) except Kong Jie after two rounds, and the Koreans still have their '4 Heavenly Kings' - 2 Lee, Park & Choi.
Gu Li and Chang Hao are great disappointment. Both have easily opening and was controlling the game flow most of the time, and yet overturned by their opponents. Cheers for Cho (his old age) and Choi (slump comeback). The reminding 3 chinese players in round 3 are just too weak for the Koreans. (Kong Jie may be strong, but always play poorly in the international level)

Choi CheolHan has been in slump since losing in the last Ing cup to Chang Hao 4 years ago. But he is only 23 years old now. I hope he will rebound and get his confidence back. Winning agains Gu Li should give him a boost he needed.
