Rank progression of Japanese professional players

While compiling Go4Go database, player rank information is often the most difficult piece of information to verify. A very good resource for Japanese rank progression is online at:

As of September 2015, this page covers 630+ players. There are also links to Nihon and Kansai Kiin's player information pages.

This interesting photo was published at Chinese portal site Sina. It shows all 15 Chinese Go players that have ever won at least one Go world championships.

The back row players (younger ones) are: Piao Wenyao, Fan Tingyu, Jiang Weijie, Mi Yuting, Shi Yue, Tuo Jiaxi, Zhou Ruiyang, Chen Yaoye, Tang Weixing. The front row players (more senior ones) are: Kong Jie, Luo Xihe, Ma Xiaochun, Yu Bin, Chang Hao, Gu Li.

  • [2013-07-11] Chinese players continued their good forms in the 2nd round of the Mlily Cup. occupying 13 of the final 16 positions.
